Due to the expansion of our hire fleet, we are seeking a skilled Mobile Service Engineer to join our team, based at our Manchester depot. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to our growing operations.

About the Role

This is a mobile position requiring travel across the UK, with occasional overnight stays. The successful candidate will perform a range of technical duties related to the maintenance and repair of heavy plant equipment, including forklifts, construction machinery, Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), and agricultural equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) and off-hire inspections

  • Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults effectively

  • Carry out major and minor repairs, including full overhauls

  • Complete LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) examinations

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in mechanical engineering, specifically in the repair and maintenance of heavy plant, construction equipment, HGVs, or agricultural machinery

    • Strong knowledge of forklift maintenance and repair (minimum 2 years’ experience)

    • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills

    • Ability to work independently and manage a mobile workload

  • Licences/Certifications:

    • Full UK Driving Licence (required)

  • Desirable Attributes:

    • Familiarity with LOLER examinations

    • Willingness to travel (up to 50% of the time)

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Details

  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

  • Salary: £34,000 – £45,000 per year (dependent on experience)

  • Benefits:

    • On-site parking at the Manchester depot

  • Schedule:

    • 9-hour shifts, Monday to Friday

    • Occasional overtime and holiday work may be required

  • Work Location: Hybrid remote, based out of Manchester depot with UK-wide travel
